TOOTH EXTRACTIONS SUGAR LAND

What is tooth extraction?

This is a dental procedure that is done to remove a broken or damaged tooth caused by decay. It is usually done when there is too much damage to a tooth or when the most part is already broken that it can’t be restored to the normal state again. It is one of the common dental services rendered by most dentists. At Smiles on Greatwood Dentistry, we provide this type of service for our clients.

Types of tooth extractions we perform at Smiles On Greatwood Dentistry

There are two main types of extractions, simple and surgical extractions. Simple extractions are done on a tooth where the dentist tends to loosen the tooth to be extracted from the associated gum tissue and bone to have an easy extraction. This type of extraction is usually done by elevators and dental forceps.
The surgical extraction is another type of extraction which is more complex in terms of time or duration and the procedures involved. This is usually done to remove an impacted tooth. The oral surgeon performing the procedure will make an incision to open up the path to access the impacted tooth. The surrounding bony structure close to the impacted tooth will also be removed so for easier removal of the wisdom tooth.

WHY DO YOU NEED TO HAVE AN EXTRACTION?

The presence of an extra tooth that tends to block others from coming in is a major indication Presence of a baby tooth that has actually failed to fall out. This tends to affect the permanent tooth from erupting.
There are situations where there is blockage of radiation for the head and neck by a tooth. In such situations, they will have to be removed.
Extraction is done to remove the already affected tooth relating to a site of infection.

There are certain preparations required before any type of extraction can be done; this includes taking an x-ray and/or panoramic x-ray to help determine the best method for removing the tooth. The patient’s medical and dental history will be evaluated to plan for the type of medication that will be prescribed to the patient.
