Dr. Akbar Jafferally
A graduate of Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Jafferally came to Texas in 2001. His philosophy and vision for Smiles on Greatwood is to offer quality dental care in a comfortable, modern environment. Dr. Jafferally strongly believes in patient education and takes the time to explain your treatment in layman’s terms in order for you to make the best decision regarding your dental care. Committed to providing quality care, Dr. Jafferally has taken additional training in Invisalign (invisible braces), veneers (cosmetic dentistry), TMJ disorder, and periodontal care (gum disease).
Dr. Jafferally serves on the Board of Directors for Ibn Sina Medical Foundation, a non-profit clinic which has served over 25,000 uninsured, low income patients. He has also been recognized as one of the “Top Dentists” for 2011 and 2012.
Dr. Ragsale
How did Dr. Ragsdale decide to become a dentist? He shadowed multiple dentists throughout his college career and had some very influential mentors during this time. After looking into other professional paths, he felt drawn to this field because of the constant, direct interactions with patients! He loves being able to help people not only achieve better health, but maintain it as well over time.
Exceptional Education
After attending Brigham Young University for his undergraduate degree, Dr. Ragsdale pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. He also completed an advanced residency in 2017, acquiring surgical and IV sedation skills. Today, he continues to focus his further training on these advanced areas so that he can offer patients and families with the highest quality of care possible.
Outside of the Dental Office
Dr. Ragsdale is from McKinney, and he speaks three different languages. His wife, Jessica, and five children all enjoy the outdoors. He loves spending his free time embarking on adventures with his little kids, such as swimming, kayaking, hiking, biking, fishing, and simply exploring the world. His children even wear safari “adventure” vests, and they have a family theme song!
Intravenous “IV” Sedation
Intravenous sedation, also known as “twilight sleep” or conscious sedation, will put you in a safe, relaxed, and comfortable state throughout your surgery. It is the most effective means of reducing awareness and anxiety for dental procedures. It is administered through an intravenous line (IV), and is therefore much more predictable in terms of effectiveness due to the quick onset of action. Although the patient is technically conscious throughout the procedure, in most cases, they will be completely unaware of the dental procedure. The disadvantage of conscious sedation is, of course, the increased cost and the need for an escort home after the procedure. But, for the patient who wants to be “the most” comfortable during the procedure, it is certainly the best way to go.
A native Texan, born and raised, Sharon started processing medical & dental claims right after graduating high school. With over 45 years of experience in processing claims, 17 in which are in the dental field, Sharon decided to join the Smiles On Greatwood team as the Office Manager. Sharon has brought with her a great wealth of knowledge and has enjoyed assisting our patients with their dental needs.
Endodontist
Meet Dr. Ashraf Harhash of Davinci Endodontics. Dr. Harhash was born in Alabama and at the age of one year old his parents relocated to Egypt, where Dr. Harhash was raised. Feeling a strong passion for dentistry he attended the University of Cairo in which he then earned his degree in Dentistry in 1991.
After eighteen years of working in general dentistry Dr. Harhash decided to return to the USA in 2008, for a much better opportunity for his family, bringing with him his wife and two sons. Once making his move to the United States, he further pursued dentistry and advanced training in Endodontics at the esteemed Loma Linda University a school recognized internationally for its spiritual emphasis and focus on community service and whole-person care in Loma Linda, California. With over 25 years of practicing dentistry and a commitment to pursuing the latest technological developments in Endodontics, Dr. Harhash provides his patients with the most clinically precise Endodontic Therapy while ensuring minimal discomfort for his patients. Quality communication with his patients, thorough consultations, and immediate access to patients enables Dr. Harhash and his team to provide a high degree of comprehensive care.
Not only is Dr. Harhash recognized as an outstanding Endodontist by his peers and patients, he is known for being a compassionate friend to many and a loving and devoted member to his family. As an integral part of his diverse community in the greater Houston area, Dr. Harhash is proud to be part of a multi-lingual office, fluent in English, Spanish and Arabic.
Dr. Akanksha Srivastava is an American and Canadian Board-Certified Prosthodontist who specializes in implants, reconstructive and cosmetic dentistry. She is also a sub-specialist in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics (prosthetic treatment for cancer patients). Dr. Srivastava is a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics. Dr. Srivastava utilizes state-of-the art CAD/CAM technologies to enhance her patient’s oral rehabilitation outcomes. She provides expert treatment for single teeth, All-on-4 implant supported fixed teeth in a day, snap-on implant overdentures, full mouth rehabilitations, cosmetic procedures, extractions, sinus lift and hard/soft tissue grafting procedures. She also provides care to patients with more complex implant needs, such as zygomatic implants placed in the cheekbone. As an expert in surgical placement as well as restoration of dental implants, she is your one-stop source for integrated treatment, which is helpful in reducing your overall treatment costs and time. Dr. Srivastava’s prosthodontic care philosophy is grounded in patient satisfaction, quality of care based on contemporary concepts, and patient safety.
